Abstract (EN)
The increasing popularity of new media technologies has enabled internet users of all ages to come together in a virtual environment. Thus, virtual communities started to take the place of traditional community concept and group communication gained a different dimension. In this study, it was tried to investigate the motivation of older individuals, who later learned to use new media technologies and called "digital immigrants" in the literature, and how they achieved gratification when they became a part of these communities. In this study, which was conducted with the perspective of Uses and Gratification, an online survey was applied to elderly individuals who are members of virtual communities on Facebook and the data obtained were analyzed.
