Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, bank mergers in Turkey and the effects of collaboration with foreign banks on investment banks are researched. In banking sector, the driving forces for merging banks are examined; cause and effects for merging in terms of investment banking are explained. Foreign investors that are coming to Turkey ? a country shows growth in numerous areas- with an intention of giving financial and consulting services for projects, aim becoming the leader banks in investment banking sector.Foreign investors brings their own technology to the countries which they invested so they help local banks to improve their utilities, change banks? structures by creating new units, raise profits and help the national economy by keeping the profit in borders. Researches clear that investment bank mergers in Turkey show the same effects except remaining behind in terms of competition. This development and improvement in first years of merging decrease in latter years. It is seen that, investment banks whose history is not old enough in Turkey, are planting the idea of becoming the only banks in this sector, with the help of foreign investors.
