Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted for deep review of generalized developmental disorder and learning disorder, evaluating visual perception and factors affecting the development of perception at 6-8 years of age. The main goal of this study was to measure the visual perception skills of the children with pervasive developmental disorder and children with learning disabilities at 6-8 years and to make a comparison between these two groups. As the data collection tool, Frosting Developmental Visual Perception Test was preferred. The study population consists of 6-8 years old children who had been diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder, and Learning Disorder in Istanbul province, and who have been undergoing special training. The sample of the study was 70 children selected by randomized method among children aged 6-8 years who have come to Yörünge Counseling and Education Center in the province of Istanbul, Kadikoy district for special education. The study was limited to 6-8 years old children with a diagnosis of pervasive developmental disorder and learning disorder. According to research results; statistically significant difference was not found by means of childrens' chronological age and by means of the lower areas of the Frosting Developmental Visual Perception Test between the two diagnose groups. In children both who were diagnosed with pervasive developmental disorders and learning disorders, statistically significant difference was observed according to gender in the lower areas of the Frosting Developmental Visual Perception Test. The age of girls at which the dimensional stability was first perceived was detected to be higher in the girls diagnosed with learning disorder when compared to the girls with pervasive developmental disorder.
