Abstract (EN)

in ABSTRACT The students' studies improve the writing skills have made the basis of this study. The assumption was: if the teacher did some preliminary preparation, the students' writing skill would improve in parallel. This was the very point from which our view emerged. Depending on this judgement, the source in the country and abroad have been studied and preliminary tasks are pointed out. These tasks have been outlined under five headlines. The creative writing that has been improved in recent years has taken a lot of place. In relation to this, the cluster method has been explained in detail and tried as a preliminary obligation. As the writing skill has close relationship with the thinking and hearing skills, student motivation in these skills have been greatly underlined in exercises. To carry out these tasks we made use of pictures, cartoons, brainstorming, and question and answer methods. By this we improved the preparatory stage. In addition to this, language teaching depends on culture so texts selected from folklore have beeen used in motivation. To check the improved preliminary tasks' contribution to the writing skill, an experimental method was used. The studeents at primary level was selected and used. They were last grade students at that school. Firstly they were subjected to the survey trying to find out their cultural and social background. Then they were told to write coposition in four different periods. One was without any preparation and the others with necessary preparation. The papaers of the students who took part in the survey and composition writing were compared with the school curriculum on teaching Turkish language in terms of language goals and evaluation chart. Three people graded the papers, one being the surveyor and the others teachers on the subject. The data found out in the composition papers and the survey has been evaluated by comparison method at a computer. In summary the data we found out showed that before starting the writing process we should take some necessary preparation.
