Abstract (EN)

The world is now a place where globalization is increasingly felt. Although the reflections of globalization have begun to be seen as economical at first, we have seen society over the last twenty years as a consumption culture. The emergence of the Internet has taken a new era with the spread of new communication technologies. The rapid spread of information on the Internet brings along an important effect, the real transformation has been with the development of web 2.0 technologies. New media technologies have affected the media and the identity of journalism as well as the society. The interaction created by the new communication technology has increased the interest and spread of social media. As people begin to choose to get information quickly and easily, the information on the traditional media has diminished. This has especially reduced newspaper circulation. While these developments are predicted to bring the end of the traditional media social media and the Internet have often created false and lied information environments. Now, individuals making their own news and share it on social media or on the web environment are making the citizen journalism. However, these individuals are not journalists. The lack of an editorial filter on the news of these individuals can create many false information and incitement to society. The most important feature of citizen journalism is that it is the voice of minority groups and reveals news that the mainstream media has not seen. As an example of citizen journalism, Özgecan Aslan and Gezi events were given. Social events have come to the forefront through social media. Confidence in professional journalism has increased in such a mass of information. In the age of new media, media and journalists have to integrate themselves into this atmosphere with the transformation they will experience.
