Abstract (EN)

In this study, in order to improve the global competition and product quality of the part used in the automotive sector and called vehicle hub, it was manufactured and compared with the new generation of global graphite cast iron instead of the old generation global graphite cast iron as a material. Casting tests were carried out separately with three different chemical compositions created to realize the production of pores from a new generation ductile iron material in accordance with the standards. Materials produced from three different chemical compositions were examined for their hardness, spectrometer analysis, tensile test results and microstructure to test the suitability of production. By comparing the test results, vehicle hub casting was made with the chemical composition that best meets the new generation ductile iron standards. After the casting of the vehicle hub was completed, the manufacturing processes of each of them were examined in order to be compared by tracking the manufacturing costs. Hardness, tensile test, chemical analysis and microstructure analysis were performed on the samples taken from the finished and ready-to-assemble vehicle hub. As a result of the studies, it was seen that the new generation ductile iron material gives much better results in processes such as grinding and machining due to the homogeneity of its internal structure. As a result of mechanical tests, it was concluded that the new generation ductile cast iron exhibits much superior elongation and yield strength compared to the old generation ductile cast iron, and thus the part cross-section can be reduced in thick-section parts such as vehicle hub.
