Abstract (EN)
This study, examines the Kurdish language demands in Turkey between 2006-2011 in the context of the New Social Movements. The study consists of three parts: In the first chapter, the concept of New Social Movements, its historical development and its distinctive elements are examined. In the second part, some historical examples which demands mother tongue education around the world are discussed and compared with the case study. Irish from Great Britain; Basques from Spain; Breton from France; Quebec from Canada and Chicanos from the United States (Hispanic) are held in a comparative way. In the third chapter, Kurdish education demands in the mother tongue are examined through the movement. In this context, first of all historical development of Kurdish language demands is examined; then the movement that is the subject of the thesis is discussed in terms of new social movements
