Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to explore potential projects and activities in order to reveal and realize innovation potential of Manisa. For this purpose, in the first part, the facts about smart city, urbanization and innovative city concepts are discussed and basic concepts are mentioned. In addition, in this section, transformation processes and competitive advantages of the reorganized cities within the scope of the concept of innovation to be adapted to the case of Manisa in the third section are discussed. In the second part, the recent studies on these and related subjects have been extensively reviewed and the socio-cultural structures and technical infrastructure of cities, which are now considered innovative, have been discussed. Based on these examples, the infrastructures of the innovative cities discussed in the first section were selected as the ones that could find application in Manisa. In the last stage of literature review, transfer methods related to infrastructure techniques were also evaluated. In the last stage of the study, the opinions of 80 academicians, experts, entrepreneurs and municipal staff were compiled and SWOT analysis was carried out on the innovation vision of Manisa province. Based on the findings obtained from this analysis, the innovation vision and potential road map of the city were drawn. The aim of this study is to be an inspiring source for local administrators in the city planning processes of Manisa and contribute to the innovative city studies to be carried out and the scale to be developed in the future.
