Effects and consequences of local and global economic crises on the Turkish economy

This study examines the effects of the economic and political crises experienced from 1929 to 2021. The measures taken during the crisis periods in the Turkish economy and the results of the stability programs implemented are important in terms of shaping the Turkish economy. The Turkish economy has struggled with a number of economic crises from 1929 to 2021. The crises seen especially in the years 1929, 1946, 1958, 1974-1978, 1980, 1982, 1990, 1994, 2000-2001, 2008, 2018-2021 are important in terms of directing the economy. The reasons, reflections and results of the crises that occurred in the Turkish economy leading to economic uncertainty are emphasized. This thesis examines and evaluates the effects of the crises on the economic balances, political structure and public reflection of the Turkish economy. In the study, the crises experienced by the Turkish economy were examined, covering the period from 1929 to 2021. The periods of 1929, 1946, 1958, 1974-1978, 1980, 1982, 1990, 1994, 2000-2001, 2008, and 2018-2021 were also examined. The reasons for the emergence of economic crises, the policies implemented and the reform processes that followed the economic crises were examined in detail. In the study, a comparative analysis of the crises experienced in the Turkish economy from 1929 to 2021 was made. The crises from 1929 to 2021 were examined and suggestions were made for exiting the crises. Official economic data, state policies and academic sources were used in the research. As a result, it is seen that many of the crises that occurred in the Turkish economy from 1929 to 2021 are related to foreign political developments, global economic fluctuations, structural economic problems, domestic political developments, and economic uncertainties. In this context, the precautionary packages taken by our country, the results of the stability programs implemented, the reflections and consequences of the crises on the economy were evaluated and suggestions were made.
