A field research on social aid in local governments: The case of Siirt

Local governments, which meet the basic needs of the local people in the settlements, provide important public services to the people. Social assistance is the most important of the services offered. In this study, which is about the social assistance of municipalities, the conceptual and theoretical framework related to poverty is included. After giving general information about poverty, information about local governments and their social assistance is given. With this study carried out in Siirt, the work of local governments in the social aid process was examined. The data collected from the people interviewed in the research and the studies carried out in the Siirt sample and the studies of local governments in this area have been revealed by the qualitative study.
