Abstract (EN)
In some beef cattle breeds such as Belgium Blue and Piedmontese, exon III region of myostatin gene of chromosome II is mutated (del11 mutation at 821 nucleotid position for Belgium Blue, G>A transversion at 938 nucleotid position for Piedmontese) to produce mh? dominant allel there by increasing meat yield up to 20% and reducing carcass fat amount up to 50%.Turkish native cattle breeds DNA samples obtained from peripheral bloods were screened for exon III of myostatin gene for nt821(del11) frame shift mutation and nt938(G>A) transversion mutation. The results revealed the non-existance of such mutations in Turkish native cattle breeds.
