The importance of green infrastructure systems in urban areas;the case of Çorlu (Tekirdağ)

Green infrastructure systems appear as a set of new, effective and successful systems applied in urban areas today. In addition to the planning of green areas with these systems; in the city, it is possible to produce natural solutions to environmental problems, reduce pollution, create a healthy and livable environment, increase the accessibility of people to green and increase the comfort of life. Green infrastructure systems and natural solutions in urban areas will make significant contributions to urban sustainability as they provide ecological, economic and social benefits. Urban green infrastructure refers to a basic infrastructure that is as important to urban life as good as urban greenery, technical or social infrastructure. This approach emphasizes the diversity of urban green services and functions that have an impact on quality of life and sustainability. It provides insight into the strategic development of green and open spaces in cities as a network that provides a variety of social, aesthetic and environmental benefits. Integrated planning and collaboration enable the development of new potential areas and the development of multifunctional solutions. The material of the Research consists of green infrastructure examples applied in different areas in Çorlu district. Method; literature review, field study and analysis were evaluated in three stages. In the research findings, green street/street afforestation, green pavement/green pedestrian paths, rain garden and rain water storage tank applications are made and information about the materials used is given. With this research, the importance of green infrastructure systems was emphasized and it was aimed to contribute to the projects that will be made.
