The examination of association between narsissistic personality traits and features of body perception in adults

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between narcissistic personality trait sand body image in adult individuals. The study group of there search consisted of 398 people determined by the non-random sampling method. Personal in formation form, Body Perception Scale, Narcissistic Personality Inventory were applied to the participants. According to the findings, a negative and statistically significant relationship was found between Body Perception Scale with Narcissistic Personality Inventory total and Body Perception Scale with Narcissistic Personality Inventory sub-dimensions, Authority, exploitativeness, Self-Sufficiency and Superiority. According to gender, men's Narcissistic Personality Inventory Total, Authority, exploitativeness, Self-efficacy and Superiority score averages were higher than women's. The mean Body Perception Scale total score of single swas higher than that of married people. Exploitativenessand Self-Efficacy mean scores of the married were higher than those of the singles. Body Perception Scale total score averages of those with chronic disease were found to be higher than those with out. Superiority score averages of those with chronic illness were found to be higher than those with out. The mean of Authority scores of those aged 26-35 were found to be higher than those of 36-45 and 46 and above. The mean of Authorityscores of those in the 18-25 age range were found to be higher than those in the 46 and overagerange. Exploitativeness score averages of those aged 26-35 were higher than those aged 18-25. The mean scores of entitlement of those aged 18-25 were found to be higher than those of 36-45 and 46 and above. The average of superiority scores of those aged 46 and over were found to be higher than those aged 18-25.Superiority point averages of people with high school education were found to be higher than those with undergraduate and graduate degrees. According to there sults of there regression analysis, it was found that the exploitativeness sub-dimension was a significant predictor of the Body Perception Scale.The findings were discussed on the basis of there levant literature.
