Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between childhood trauma, fear of happiness, emotion regulation difficulties, and psychological resilience in adult individuals. To achieve this goal, the research was conducted using a relational survey model. The population of the study consists of individuals aged 18 and above living in Turkey, while the sample group was composed of 403 adult individuals selected through convenience sampling. The data were collected through a Personal Information Form, the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ-33), the Fear of Happiness Scale , the Emotion Regulation Difficulties Scale and the Brief Psychological Resilience Scale all of which were administered to the sample group via Google Forms. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 software. Before testing the hypotheses and research questions, the skewness and kurtosis coefficients of the variables were calculated, and it was determined that the data followed a normal distribution. Therefore, parametric tests were used in the analysis with SPSS 25.0. To examine the relationship between the study variables and demographic information, Independent T-tests and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were applied. The results indicated that women experience more difficulties in emotion regulation compared to men, and men have higher levels of psychological resilience than women. Additionally, individuals who experienced parental separation had significantly higher childhood trauma scores than those who did not. Furthermore, individuals whose mothers completed high school experienced more emotion regulation difficulties than those whose mothers completed only middle school. Moreover, the six hypotheses defined for the purpose of the study were confirmed through Pearson Correlation Analysis. Significant relationships between the study variables were found. To determine the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variables, simple linear regression analyses were conducted. The results showed that childhood trauma (the independent variable) significantly predicted the dependent variables of fear of happiness, emotion regulation difficulties, and psychological resilience.
