Abstract (EN)

This study has planned to display cultural and holistic role of television by focusing on Cultivation Theory. In this study which analyses long term role of television, the components of George Gerbner's Cultural Indicators Project such as Message System Analysis and Cultivation Analysis were done. Message System Analysis was applied on programs that appeared on TRT 1, Show Tv, Kanal D, Atv, Fox Tv, Tv 8 between 6.30-11.00 pm between dates April 16-18, 2018. As a result of analysis, it was seen that components such as violence and male-dominant representation appeared on these channels frequently. Most repeated messages and presentations in the Message System Analysis were determined and used as a database for the survey which was applied for Cultivation Analysis. Cultivation Analysis was applied on all staff working for Bingöl State Hospital such as physicians, nurses, health officers, secretaries, cleaning staff, managers and officers. 221 people participated in the survey. Data analysis of the survey was done using chi-square test. As a result, it was seen that television has a role on cultivation and mainstreaming.
