Yazidism and its fundamental beliefs

Today, Yazidism, which claims to be a new religion, is a syncretic movement that should be evaluated considering the process it has gone through in history. Adi b. Muafir came to Hakkari-Laleş Region in the 11th century and established the Adeviyye sect. The Adewiyya sect, which started in the Sunni line, evolved into the Yazidi movement over time for various social and cultural reasons. Yazidism, which is far from monotheistic understanding when its belief elements and rituals are evaluated from a Sunni perspective, introduces itself as the oldest religion in the world with a monotheist belief. However, when scriptures, recent religious texts, belief elements and rituals are analyzed, we encounter a heterodox belief structure that is closer to the concept of sect, which is influenced by many religions and cultures. In this heterodox structure, besides the Supreme Being believed in him, there are also the beliefs of Melek Tavus, Sultan Yazid and Şeyh Adi and they are believed to have a divine essence. It is unclear who the "I" in the "I" language expressions used in Kitab-ı Cilve is. It can be the creator named Hudâ or Yezdân, or Melek Tavus, who is believed to have been given the administration of the world, who is addressed in Kitab-ı Cilve. Although the Holy Books are Kitab-ı Cilve and Mushâf-ı Reş, in Yazidism, where oral culture is dominant, the texts of prayer and admonition, "teachings" have an important place. Belief in transmigration / reincarnation about life after death is one of the most obvious characteristic features of Yazidism. The orders and prohibitions in all belief systems vary according to the time and place in the Yazidi belief. However, the three principles that every Yazidi must abide by are truthfulness, knowing and shame. In this context, Yazidi belief elements have been examined and evaluated in this historical process.
