Abstract (EN)

The increasing demand for water resources worldwide has highlighted the significance of underground reservoirs. Due to their critical role in site selection, efficiency, durability, and sustainability, careful planning is essential for effective water storage, reducing environmental impacts, and resilience against various risks. These reservoirs offer advantages over surface reservoirs, such as low evaporation risks, enabling long-term water storage with less pronounced environmental impacts and lower potential for harming ecosystems. Particularly in regions with sensitive water resources like Turkey, they present a strategic solution for water security and supply. Modern techniques like jet grouting enhance the construction and sustainability of underground reservoirs, contributing to their effectiveness and long-term water security. Therefore, the use of jet grouting emerges as a significant strategy in constructing and maintaining underground reservoirs. The global urgency for water management, driven by limited water resources and increasing demand, underscores the importance of underground reservoirs. They contribute to water security through effective storage and management. This thesis study emphasizes the importance of site selection for underground reservoirs, focusing on the 'Determination of Potential Construction Areas for the Underground Reservoir of the Upper Yeşilırmak Basin,' and addressing the advantages these structures offer in sustainable water management.
