Abstract (EN)
Weak soils, which constitute a large part of the study area of geotechnical engineering, increase their importance with the increase in the developing construction. Applications on weak soils will have become important, as increased construction will require the use of soils regardless of what condition they are in. In geotechnical engineering, stabilizing such weak soils and reusing them will create important situations that need to be resolved. Weak soils, that are not safe enough to serve the loads on them. For this reason, it is necessary to make the ones that are necessary to use such soils safe. This requirement has made significant progress thanks to developing technology and increasing opportunities. Due to the diversification of underground applications and the increase in material diversity, the applications made have differentiated and started to respond to the problems in improvement. In this thesis, finite element analyzes of geotechnical problems occurred on the road to Fetih Cami, located in the campus area of Dicle University, were carried out using field and laboratory data. In the analysis, in the first stage, the current situation was modeled and the displacement and safety numbers were obtained. Then, analyzes were carried out for the improvement of the natural soil with the jet grout method and the reinforcement of the embankment using geogrid. Geogrids come in parallel with the laying of the embankment and work against the pressure forces and try to reduce the displacements. It is aimed to increase the carrying capacity by injecting a mixture of cement and water, which is fluid to the ground, with jet grout columns. When the results of the analysis were examined, it was evaluated that the jet grout method was effective in soil improvement and the use of geogrid layer was effective in strengthening the fill slope. As a result of the analyzes carried out using the optimum values, it was determined that the number of safety increased by approximately 220% compared to the pre-improvement situation, and the total displacement value decreased by approximately 65%. The finite element method provides effective solutions in terms of both obtaining the optimum improvement and strengthening parameters and understanding the failure, displacement and stress mechanisms, and enables the understanding of geotechnical problems.
