Abstract (EN)

The compilation activities (tadwīn) in the science of ḥadīth marked a turning point in the transformation of the transmission tradition into a systematic structure. During this process, the generation of the tābiʿūn played a decisive role both in transmitting narrations and in the formation of the foundational principles of ḥadīth methodology. Examining the transmission practices of tābiʿūn narrators is of great importance for understanding the early conceptualization of ḥadīth. In this thesis, the mursal narrations of Zayd b. Aslam al-ʿAdawī (d. 136/754), a tābiʿī who had a scientific council in Medina, were examined in terms of hadith technique. In the study, Zayd's mursal narrations were classified from various perspectives. İn order to assess whether the practices of irsāl (discontinuity) and ittiṣāl (continuity) occurred simultaneously or successively in the history of transmission, muttasil (connected) isnāds corresponding to the mursal narrations were investigated and compared. In this framework, the authenticity of the narrations was analyzed using data from the science of al-jarḥ wa al-taʿdīl (impugnment and validation). The findings reveal that the presence of weak or fabricated muttasil isnāds for Zayd's mursal narrations was influenced by the overall reliability of the transmissions. It was also found that such narrations generally entered the ḥadīth corpus in the fourth Hijrī century and beyond. Additionally, the study evaluated whether the inclusion of mursal narrations into muṣannafāt varied across centuries within the broader context of ḥadīth history. Finally, the study identified the students who narrated mursal ḥadīth from Zayd b. Aslam al-ʿAdawī.
