Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the effect of 8-week swissball training on 50 meters breaststroke and backstroke swimming performance in male swimmers aged 10-12. Since this study will be applied on a single group, a pre-test and post-test was conducted using the experimental research method. The population of the research includes male swimmers in the 10-12 age group. In the sample of the research, there are 16 male athletes in the 10-12 age group in Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Körfez Swimming Pool. In this study, a swissball training program was applied to the swimmers in the experimental group for 8 weeks. Pre-test measurements were taken before starting the 8-week training program, and post-test measurements were taken after the training ended. Among the applied measurements and tests are anthropometric measurements and swimming performance tests. The data obtained from the study was analyzed in the SPSS 25.0 package program. Descriptive statistics were used to evaluate the data. Mann Whitney U Test, Kruskal-Wallis Test and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test were used to determine whether there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest measurements of the experimental group. The obtained results were evaluated in the 95% confidence interval. As a result of the findings, when the swimming performance tests were examined, it was observed that there was a statistically significant difference between the 50 meter breaststroke and backstroke swimming performance pretest and posttest measurements. As a result of these findings, it was concluded that swissball training is effective on swimming performance and improves the swimming performance of the athletes. As a result of the study, it was suggested to add swissball training to the training programs of the athletes in the developmental age in order to increase the swimming performance of the athletes.
