Abstract (EN)

It is to determine the level of physical activity in children and their parents and compare them by age groups and gender. In addition, it is to look at the relationship between the education level of the parents, body mass index (BMI) values and activity level and the activity scores of the child. This research was conducted in Istanbul province, Pendik district, Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu Secondary School. The sample group of the study consists of 300 students and 600 parents, whose ages are between 10-13 years, selected by the stratified sampling method and proportional to the simple random method. The Physical Activity Questionnaire for Children developed by Özdöl (2009) was used for the physical activity levels of the children participating in the research. An International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) was applied to determine the level of physical activity of families. It was observed that the body mass index values of female and male students did not have a statistically significant difference. It was found that 8th grade (13 years) male students were taller than female students. It was found that male students are more active than female students and have a more conscious and positive attitude towards FA, and 6th grade (11 years old) and 8th grade (13 years old) male students are more active. BMI of students in all classes was at normal values and it was determined that it tended to increase with age. It was determined that the FAA1 results decreased as the age grew, and the FAA2 scores did not differ significantly between age groups. It is thought that physical activity is related to public health, its importance should be understood by all segments, and studies aiming to raise awareness should be done for this purpose.
