Abstract (EN)

Crackle and crawling glazes are among the artistic glazes. It is possible to see the initial samples in Chinese porcelains and ceramics produced in the 21st century. While crackle glazes were accepted as failure in western culture, eastern civilizations regarded them in aesthetic terms. Although crackle glazes are used by artists during the production of the ceramic forms, this kind of special glazes are not preferred in industrial area at the present time. In this thesis, the aim is to contribute the previous researches by adding new study and to promote literature with new recipes that are achieved by making many trials with the raw materials of our country. Therefore, the goal is to create a source for ceramic artists who want to work on this subject in the future. In this thesis named as "The research on the colored cackle glazes developing at 1050-1080°C" the properties of raw materials used in the samples were investigated primarily. After the formation of Seger formulas and recipes, the method was decided. By using ESC1 ceramic slurry, trial plaques were formed and biscuit fire was taken place at 1000°C. Following the biscuit fire, trial plaques were glazed by draining technique and the results of the firing at 1050-1080°C were observed. Development of glazes under these two different temperatures were compared in terms of brightness, fluidity, dullness, opaqueness, foaming, color contrast and conformity to forms. At the end of the observations, positive and negative results were evaluated.
