Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effects of the sports age and sportive achievements on the anticipation times of the taekwondo athletes in the athlete group were examined by comparing the anticipation times of the taekwondo athletes at the same age group and looking at the gender differences within the groups. A total of 100 taekwondo athletes, 50 female and 50 male, who are at the competitive level with at least 2 years of sports history, and 50 female and 50 male total sedentary individuals in the same age group who do not do active sports participated. Bassin Anticipation Timer device (Lafayette Instrument Company, Model 50575) was used for research measurements. Measurements were made 5 times each at 5 mph (low), 10 mph (medium), 15 mph (high) speeds, according to the stimuli coming from the right and left sides. Whether the data were suitable for normal distribution was determined by applying the One Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and non-parametric analysis methods. Mann Whitney U analysis method was used to compare the anticipation time measurement results of the sedentary and taekwondo athletes participating in the study according to age, height, body weight and gender, and to compare the anticipation time of the athlete group according to the sportive success status. The Kruskal Wallis H test was used to compare the anticipation times of the athlete group according to their sports ages. As a result of the measurements and statistical evaluations, it was determined that the detection time had no effect between the groups in terms of gender. In addition, it was determined that the athletes had better anticipation times than sedentary stimuli at low speed (5 mph). In addition, positive significance was found according to sportive success according to low (5 mph) left, medium (10 mph) left and high (15 mph) right stimulus measurements in the athlete group, and according to sports age in high (15 mph) right measurement results. As a result, in this study, it was found that the perception times of sedentary and taekwondo athletes differed against low-level stimuli, but the difference disappeared as the stimulus speed increased. Based on these results, it was found that the anticipation time of the athletes with sportive success and higher sports age was better. Keywords: Anticipation time, taekwondo, age, gender
