Özet (EN)

Turkish Tile Art which is seen in the world museum sand which contains the great traces of the past, is shaped today, according to the needs and cultural values of the society. The first thing that came to mind when it comes to the Turkish Tile Art was İznik and Kütahya. The palace art İznik, did not survive until today, but the folk art of Kütahya lives on today we see that the patterns of Kütahya are slowly shifting towards iznik patterns, due to financial concerns, they are produced with cheap craftsmanship or serigraphy method. What is needed to revive the demand for Tile? The case of need mentioned in my thesis has directed me to write this thesis. The aim of my thesis is to increase the demand of Tile not as an ornament but as a functional product. In line with these objectives, porcelain is also included in the designs while health and aesthetics are taken into consideration. The designs in my thesis are limited to the motifs used in the 18th century Kütahya tile, daily-use items such as plates, glasses, cups and lampshades forms are designed. As for the research methods, literature review and one to one interviews were conducted with important tile artists. In the literature review, the status of Kütahya tile art from the 14th century to the present day is examined. Information on the period's important works was given. As a result of discussions with the artists and recommendations, new design examples are presented by taking into consideration the needs and aesthetic concern of today.
