Between the years of 1910 and 1940, the relation between the view of art, art education, power and propaganda in Turkey and the world

As being one of the tools for extensification of beliefs and ideologies, propaganda is the major concept affecting the art. The westernization effects of Turkish art which starts with Tanzimat Reform Era and develop with the proclamation of Turkish Republic find a way on artworks of Turkish artists. The aim of the present research is to find out the relationship among power, art and propaganda in both Turkey and the world between 1910 and 1940 years. Furthermore, the current study investigates the effects of Turkish artists who had education in Europe on art and the approaches of Turkish artists towards propaganda. This paper is composed of four sections. The first section gives information about aim of the thesis, statement of the problem, the extent of it and research questions. In the second section, the meaning of propaganda, the changes it has experienced during the years and history are taken place. This section includes the subtitles named as ?Art, Power, Propaganda in the World? and ?Art, Power, Propaganda in Turkey?. Moreover, Turkish artists who had art education in Europe between the years of 1910 and 1940, esthetics approaches changed during the process, artistic views and thoughts, the choice of colours, new style and art which were reshaped with the brushstrokes were mentioned in this section. The place of art which is thought as a very clear concept of any sort of propaganda in today?s world towards propaganda and the art?s effort to create its own reality were searched through the samples reflecting on art pieces Apart from whole this research, this paper investigates the effects and importance of Turkish artists who had been in Europe on Art Education. In the third section, the methodology part of the thesis is taken place. In the final section includes the conclusion and discussion parts, by trying to answer the research questions which were arisen in the introduction part, and this part was concluded with the recommendations.
