The urban phenomenon after 1950 and the reflections of architectural construction on contemporary Turkish painting

It is seen that immigration, economy, development of technology, laws and similar events in the urban life of the Republic of Turkey have affected the architectural structure in the cities and the works of art produced in contemporary Turkish painting. It is observed that the migration from rural areas to cities after 1950 became a phenomenon in a short time, and in the ongoing process, sheds and slums were formed in the cities. It is felt that the number of people living in cities is increasing day by day with the development of the industry. It is seen that the need for housing in the cities has increased in parallel with the events experienced. Thus, with the increase in the number of residences and other architectural structures in cities, it is seen that the subject has taken place in the context of the urban theme in contemporary Turkish painting. It is known that with the growth of cities, architectural structures in residential areas first transformed into apartment buildings and then into skyscrapers. Growth has caused the number of people living in cities to increase, thus cities have turned into metropolises. In this study, it is aimed to show how the urban phenomenon and the development and change in architectural structures in the historical process are handled and reflected in the works of contemporary Turkish painting. According to the findings obtained as a result, it is seen that the state is in an effort to create a planned and regular city, and on the other hand, it is in an effort to solve the developing and continuing problem of shanty housing. It is stated that the increase in the financial value of the urban lands, which are common to this process, causes the city plan to change, so high-rise buildings are formed in the early period. The works produced by the artists on subjects such as migration, slum, construction, professions and metropolis, which they deal with in their works, show that the city that exists with people has changed with people. When examined in this context, it is seen that it is inevitable to include the image of apartment buildings and metropolises in art works. In this research, using the qualitative research method, a conceptual framework has been created within the scope of the literature review, and the works reflecting the developments in the field of urban phenomenon and architectural structuring since 1950 have been examined. These reflections are seen in the works of many artists, but they are more prominent in the works of some artists, from this point of view, the works of Nuri İyem, Cihat Burak, Nedim Günsür, Fethi Arda and Setenay Alpsoy have been analyzed more closely.
