Ecocriticism and environment consciousness in the turkish story after 1950

Especially the environmental concern, discussed for a quarter century on several platforms, has for sure found its certain reflections in the Turkish story. This study, which is composed in three main sections, handles the literature-environment interaction in the centreline of the story types and carryes the aim to research environmental sensitivity in the Turkish story after the 1950's. The environment, what is the key word and term in the text, the ecology and association's area of the ecocriticism is examined in the first section. It is dwelled on the ecocriticism theory's-which channels this study- past, current and near future interpretations, on art and literature's functionality. The criticism tradition's aspect of ensuring awareness is also emphasized. The second section is separated to the faithes and cultural values, identifying the ecological behavior of societes in world's several regions. In the third and last section takes the environment criticism part, which is transferred directly or indirectly in the Turkish story over half a century. Thematic titles, repeating among the works, are showing common problems making their impact feel in every period. In the meantime, the regional but not continuity crisis, about the environment, which happened in some periods are also mentioned. In the last three thematic titles of the relevant section, the basic characteristic of the environmentalist type, which comes into existence based on the the pleasurable function of nature, the transfer of the functioning of the ecosystem to the literary text and the analyzed narratives is discussed. Following closely the current affairs, the ecocriticism theory, whith its interdisciplinary approach, adopts as a principle to be on the earth's side. Although the approaches in the theory are presently tending for differentation and enlargement, in the last instance the basic argument is to protect the natural environment. By signing limitless actions, the environment theory is calling humanity, who prevent the natural life's consistent process, through art. In summary, this study, which intends to remind the consciousness of living in common, aims to contribute to literature-environment researches.
