Traditionalism as a poetic tendency in 1980 Generation Turkish poetry

Tradition of recent years in the field of social sciences is one of the most intensively debated topics. In the center of the discussions lies the understanding of the modernism and tradition. Although a complete consensus on the subject is not provided it is undeniable that two main pillars of the tradition are "principle" and "shape / form". The argument of tradition which is more of a poetic problem in literature, espeacially in poems, increasingly tends to be in the sense of having an esthetical or esthetical art understanding. In fact in all periods of literature and literary works even though the direct or indirect effect of tradition can be mentioned, it is realised that tradition has a particular effect in modern Turkish poetry in 1980s. Yet in 1980 a whole generation of poets in Turkish poetry had an interest in Turkish poetry and it is clearly seen that poets without prejudice tried to benefit from the knowledge of Turkish poetry. Besides, when we consider the understanding of tradition's chosen as a narrow or particular orientation tendency, we can say that some poets focused on certain line. At this point Hilmi Yavuz's personality as a conveyor, his sense of art and works had a dominant role. The topic of traditional line beginning from Şeyh Galip then Yahya Kemal and Ahmet Haşim, two important founders of the new/modern Turkish poetry, became clear in the esthetic of Asaf Hâlet Çelebi and Behçet Necatigil and met a systematic with Hilmi Yavuz.
