Abstract (EN)

The irony, which we often need to use at almost every moment of our lives, has also taken its place in art and has been widely used by artists. Its definition in the dictionary means to say the opposite of anything expressed in allusion, to speak sarcastically to the opposite. In irony, the main goal is to express the actions performed or the opposite of the statements contained in the discourses. While the ability to perform these actions can be interpreted as a skill, the understanding of the opposite party is assential Because it is aimed to make the contrast understandable. Besides, a person expresses his thoughts by creating contrast through "what he wants to say" in order to criticize rather than directly say his thoughts. As mentioned, irony exists in all aspects of human life; it can be seen in a wide range of areas ranging from daily life, literature, theater to painting. Irony, as in the past, continues its importance today as a form of expression that contemporary art cannot give up. Artists have presented their rarest works throughout the history of art using the concept of irony.
