Prof. Dr. Ibrahim ORNEKSeptember 2005, 158 pagesThe name, known as the Middle East, is a result of European comment. TheMiddle East consists of the triangle of Turkey, Iran,Egypt and also the countriessituated in Arabic peninsula in this triangle. In addition to this countries the MiddleEast also comprise the adjacent countries that are North Africa, Sudan, Somalia,Afghanistan. Academics consider the region as the combination of Turkey, Iran,Egypt, Israel, Iraq, United Arabic Embassy, Kuwait, Lebanon, Sryia, Saudi Arabia,Yemen, Jordan and Omman.In this study foreign trade relations between Turkey and the Middle Eastcountrıes is researched. The goods that are exported to the Middle East countries aremuch more numerous than the imported ones. Export goods of the Middle Eastcountries are mostly underground resources and agriculture yields. Only a fewcountries are advantageous with respect to the others regarding the exporting goods.Due the fact that undeveloped economics and insufficient background in industrialarea, the Middle East countries lack the competitive characteristics in trading withother countries. We also concluded that the foreign trading of Turkey to the MiddleEast between 1990-2004 when compared to the trading relations with Europeancountries it can be inferred from the research that in the former Turkey isadvantageous but in the latter case Turkey is disadvantageous.Key words: Middle East, Foreign trade, International trade, Export, Import.
