Özet (EN)

Evaluation of the Transformation in Turkish Sports Media in the Context of New Media from the 1990s to the Present through Oral History Communication and sports, which are as old as human history and have survived to the present day as indispensable parts of daily life, can be addressed and examined from different dimensions in today's digital world. The need to convey sports activities to societies and people in different geographies has revealed that cooperation between these two phenomena is inevitable. This cooperation has diversified and with the rapid development of technology, especially the inclusion of internet use in human life, the differences between the traditional and the new have become a matter of curiosity. In this context, the aim of the study was to try to understand how new media transformed traditional sports media in Turkey. In this qualitative study, the processes through which traditional sports media evolved into new media were examined within the framework of historical dynamics. An oral history study was conducted to understand how sports actors, including media members working in the transformation that took place, evaluated the transformation in the media within the framework of their individual professional experiences and the characteristics of the transformation that took place. With the purposeful sampling technique, 10 media workers and 7 other sports actors were determined as participants of the study. Data were collected with a semi-structured interview form and related documents. The collected data were analyzed with descriptive analysis. Thus, a study that can be a source for studies to be conducted in the field has emerged. As a result of the study, it was seen that traditional sports media has undergone a radical transformation with the new media phenomenon, especially in structural, economic, sociological and technological aspects. In addition to the more accessible broadcast technologies, the number of publishers in new media has increased significantly with the features of speed, interaction and measurability, but the quality of many contents has become questionable. Trained manpower in traditional media has migrated to new media channels, mass media have lost power, and especially print and periodical publishing has come to an end.
