Murat ARSLAN This study explores, the types of irregularities discussed in the New Turkish Earthquake Code 1998, and damages in irregular structures caused by earthquake and examines architectural solutions which can prevent these types of damages are studied. The basic architectural principles in eathquake resistant design of structures are examined and necessity and importance to conform to the New Turkish Earthquake Code 1998 is emphasized.
