Synthesis and characterization of 2,2'-sulfonylbis(4-tert-octylphenoxy) substituted metallophthalocyanines

In this thesis, 2-2'Sulfonylbis(4-Tert-Octylphenoxy)diphthalonitrile3 was synthesized from 2,2'Sulfonylbis(4-tert-octylphenol)1 and 4-Nitrophthalonitrile by nucleophilic substitution reaction in the presence of K2CO3 at a ratio of 1:2. In the second stage, mono type CuPc 2 and ball type Cu2Pc2 5 were synthesized with Copper(II) acetate, mono type ZnPc 3 and ball type Zn2Pc2 6 with Zinc(Ⅳ) acetate, mono type CoPc 4 and ball type Co2Pc2 7 were synthesized with Cobalt(II) acetate. The synthesized substances were characterized by FT-IR, UV-VIS, 1H-NMR and MALDI TOFF mass spectroscopy techniques. 1H-NMR spectrum measurement was not performed for the synthesized substances 2,4,5 and 7 due to their paramagnetic properties.
