Abstract (EN)

Phthalocyanines are macrocyclic compounds with 18-π electron delocalization consisting of four iminoizoindoline units. These compounds have potential to apply in many technological fields due to their interesting electronic structures, stability, physical and chemical properties. Due to this feature, the studies on the synthesis and properties of phthalocyanine derivatives have been increasing by many working groups. In this study, 4-nitrophthalimide, 4-nitrophthalamide and 4-nitrophthalonitrile compounds were synthesized from phthalimide. The 4-nitrophthalonitrile compound was reacted with the 2-mercapto-6-methylpyrimidine-4-hydroxy compound to synthesize the 4-((4-hydroxy-6-methylpyrimidin-2-yl)thio)phthalonitrile compound. 4-((4-Hydroxy-6-methylpyrimidin-2-yl)thio)phthalonitrile compound was characterized by melting point, elemental analysis, FT-IR, and NMR spectroscopy. With this newly synthesized 4-((4-Hydroxy-6-methylpyrimidin-2-yl)thio)phthalonitrile compound, metal and metal-free phthalocyanine complexes were synthesized using Co (II), Ni (II), Cu (II), and Zn (II) acetate salts. Elemental analysis, IR, UV-visible region spectroscopy methods were used for the characterisation of these complexes. Thermal behavior and electrochemical redox potentials of complexes were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and cyclic voltammetry and differential puls voltammetry respectively. Key words: Phthalocyanine, 4-nitrophthalonitrile, 4-hydroxy-2-mercapto-6-methylpyrimidine, 4-((4-Hydroxy-6-methylpyrimidin-2-yl)thio) phthalonitrile, electrochemistry, Cobalt phthalocyanine, Nickel phthalocyanine, Copper phthalocyanine, Zinc phthalocyanine, metal-free phthalocyanine, cyclic voltammetry, thermal analysis.
