Abstract (EN)

Cinema is one of the most important branches of art and mass media that reflects society and culture. Cinema has a reflective function in understanding where people live as an individual, who they are, interpreting their relationships with others, learning the dynamics and culture of the society they live in, and comprehending social changes and transformations. It is possible to see the reflections of subjects such as social changes, social acceptances, norms, culture, traditions and customs, male-female relations, family, and gender on the cinema. In the post-1980 period in Turkey, there has been a transformation at the economic, social, cultural and ideological level. Developments in these years have been events that directly affect the outlook on life and lifestyle of 2000s Turkey. Men and women have been assigned socially and culturally different roles of femininity and masculinity due to the fact that they are biologically and physically different from each other. Motherhood is one of the gender roles at the same time, except for the ability of a woman to have children due to her biological structure. Within the framework of this study, it is examined how the concept of motherhood, which shows the effects of the social change experienced by the country since 1980, is considered and reflected within the scope of Turkish cinema 2000-2019 films. 25 mothers within the scope of 20 films determined by purposeful sampling were evaluated within the framework of criteria determined by Delphy technique. Turkish films in the presence of maternal surveyed between the years 2000-2019, filmic narrative and social structure in place, although the changes are fully reflected the changes in social reality does not reflect the social reality and the changes that can be ignored completely that sometimes has emerged.
