Abstract (EN)

Introduction and objectives : Liver cirrhosis; is a chronic progressive disease characterized by hepatic regeneration, nodular formation, diffuse fibrosis, hepatocellular necrosis. Viral hepatitis in Turkey constitute the majority of liver cirrhosis. Our aim in this study is to compare the rates, complications and clinical differences of viral hepatitis in patients with liver cirrhosis in our region compared to other etiologic factors. Materials and Methods: Between January 2001 and October 2017, 196 patients with liver cirrhosis who were referred to the gastroenterology department of Dicle University Medical Faculty Hospital were included. The age, sex, and body mass index in the medical records were compared with those in our hospital. viral replication, hepatitis serology, biochemical parameters and imaging studies were used. This information revealed liver complications, esophageal varices, ascites, encephalopathy, presence of portal vein thrombosis, alcohol use and diabetes mellitus. HCC (hepatocellular carcinoma) exclusion criteria were determined. Results : A total of 196 patients, 152 male and 44 female, were included in the study. In our study, it was seen that HBV infection was the first in all etiologic patients (%53.1) in patients with liver cirrhosis.Delta infection was detected in %29.6, HCV infection in %6.1 and other etiologies in %11.2. When viewed demographically; male sex was the highest in liver cirrhosis patients with HBV infection (%81.7, n: 85), while males and females were equally present in HCV cirrhosis patients (%50-50).The highest age group was HCV positive cirrhosis (49,7).Anti-delta positivity rate was %36 (n: 58) in HbsAg positive patients. The mean age of the subjects with anti-delta positive (41.6) was significantly smaller than the average of those with negative (46.3). A strong correlation was found between Child-Pugh score 10 and above, and between advanced liver cirrhosis patients and MELD Score (10 and above) Conclusion: In our study; the rate of HBV infection in liver cirrhosis is still the highest among all etiologists, compared with the previous studies, but it is still seen as an important problem in our region. Key words: Liver cirrhosis, Anti-delta, HBsAg, MELD
