Abstract (EN)

Economic and financial crises in world trade pushed countries to new foreign policy implementations. In this context, the 2008 global financial crisis, also known as the "Mortgage" housing crisis, has shaken the economies of almost all countries, especially the USA. The integration of the world financial system with the effect of globalization and the increase in the dependence of the countries to each other caused the crisis to spread rapidly to the world economy. The devastating effects of the crisis both caused the financial market to deteriorate and the total demand in the world to decline, significantly slowing global trade. Therefore, countries have turned to protectionist policies in order to reduce the effects of the crisis or to get rid of it completely. With the election of Trump as the president of the USA, new protectionist policies especially against China came to the agenda and with China's response, it brought trade wars with it. In this study, a large share of the world economy has been described having two super powers of their mutual trade war effects on the world economy and the possible repercussions for Turkey. Keywords New Protectionism, 2008 Crisis, USA-China, Turkey
