Abstract (EN)

This study aims to identify problems faced in the application of 2013 Primary Schools (Primary and Secondary Schools) Science Course (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Grades) Curriculum and teachers' opinions related to solutions. In this respect, opinions of science teachers working in Manisa and classroom teachers teaching science lesson were gathered. This study is a descriptive research in which quantitative and qualitative data are used. As instruments, questionnaire and semi-structured interview form which were developed by the researchers were used. In order to describe the data, percentages and frequency values were used. Analysis of the results shows that most of the teachers think that the curriculum is suitable for students to be science literate, and enables students to develop positive attitudes towards science, and is an integrated program with daily life. That the curriculum is based on learning strategy based on research-inquiry, and provides teachers with a freer opportunity to practice are all defined as the strengths of the curriculum. That the time is not enough for making research, sufficient information about the goals and the methods in the curriculum is not given are all defined as the weakness of the curriculum. Teachers express that the quality of in-service training, laboratory and material facilities, quality of textbooks, teaching hours need to be improved and central examinations need to be reduced as the solutions to the problems they meet in implementing the curriculum.
