Özet (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between fathers' perceptions of the role of fathers who have children between the ages of 3-6 and their children's emotion regulation skills. The research was conducted with 305 fathers aged between 24 and 58 residing in different parts of the country. In the study, the data on fathers' perceptions of paternal role was 'Paternal Role Perception Scale' (Kuzucu, 1999), data on fathers' parental emotion regulation skills was the 'Parental Emotion Regulation Scale' (Gültekin Ahçı, Akdeniz, Harmancı, Akaroğlu, & Seçer, 2020), data on children's emotion regulation skills were obtained by using the "Emotion Regulation Scale" (Batum & Yağmurlu, 2007) and the personal information of the participants using the "Personal Information Form" created by the researcher within the scope of this research. The data obtained from the research were analyzed with the SPSS 24.0 package program using Pearson Product Moments Correlation, T Test and Multiple Regression. As a result of the research, it was seen that there was a positive and significant relationship between fathers' emotion regulation skills and their perceptions of the role of fatherhood. When the relationship between fathers' emotion regulation skills and children's emotion regulation skills is examined, there is a negative and significant relationship between fathers' emotion regulation skills and Variability/Negativity sub-dimension, which expresses the difficulties experienced by children in emotion regulation skills, ıt has been observed that there is a positive and significant relationship with the Emotion Regulation Control sub-dimension, which expresses the development of children's emotion regulation skills. It has been observed that there is a negative significant relationship between fathers' perceptions of fatherhood roles and the Variability/Negativity sub-dimension of children's emotion regulation skills. In addition, it was observed that the father's perceptions of the role of fatherhood and the level of competence in parent emotion regulation skills did not differ according to the gender of the child. However, it was concluded that there was a significant difference between children's emotion regulation skills and their genders. When the results of the multiple regression analysis conducted on the prediction of the child's emotion regulation skills by the fathers' emotion regulation skill levels and fatherhood role perceptions of the variability/negativity of the child were examined, it was found that while the father's avoidance of his child's emotions predicted the Variability/Negativity in a positive way,it was seen that the father's directing his child's emotions and the fathers' perception of the father's role predicted it negatively. When the multiple regression analysis of fathers' emotion regulation skill levels and fatherhood role perceptions on the prediction of emotion regulation control, one of the child's emotion regulation skills, was examined, ıt was seen that the father's inclination towards his child's feelings, the father's level of acceptance of his own feelings and his child's feelings, and his perception of the role of fatherhood predicted Emotion Regulation Control positively.
