Abstract (EN)
In addition to city planning, visual digital data and 3D models collected from the urban environment are an important source of inspiration for the field of urban design. As a contrast, the urban environments, rendered in traditional 3D city models, are highly representative and data-driven way. Equivalent to how the development of digital urban data (digitization) has created technologies such as computer-aided design (CAD), building information models (BIM), and geographic information systems (GIS), and made them the industry standard in the past; Industry 4.0; Advancements in 3D scanning technologies that provide realistic visualization of urban space; Increased capacities of graphics processors; The Digital Twin (DT) concept which combined with game engines, brings new perspectives to urban planning and design applications. In this study, besides the basics of a hypothetical LOD categorization to be built especially for the urban area, the qualitative connection between the LOD system optimization used in the field of graphics technologies and the 3D scanned models of the urban area has been examined.
