Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to determine which type of illustrations with few elements, medium elements or many elements in the children's picture books prepared for preschool children aged 4-6 attract the attention of children and which they prefer. "Do children prefer the illustration styles found in books belonging to their age category?" This research, which is based on the question, is important in terms of being a guide when determining the type of illustration that should be preferred for children aged 4-6. In the research, the concept of illustration is discussed and the development process from its beginning to the present has been conveyed by referring to its history both in the world and in Turkey. The information about the development processes and artistic activities of the pre-school 4-6 year old child was given by mentioning the emergence of the concept of childhood. The concept of children's picture book and its brief history is explained, and illustrations with few, medium and many elements, which are the subject of the research, are mentioned.The population of the research consisted of pre-school children aged 4-6, with a total of 50 participants studying in private kindergartens in Antalya. Within the scope of the research, semi-structured interview method, which is included in the qualitative research method, was used and semi-structured interview questions were used as data collection tool. In the light of the findings obtained as a result of the research, a children's picture book application, which includes the multi-item illustration style preferred by the participants, was designed.
