Title: Effect of 4V1 and 6V2 Small Sided Games on Agility Performance Student's Name: Barış BAYDEMİR Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Niyazi ENİSELER Department: Coaching Education / Sports Science Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of 4V1 and 6V2 small sided games applied in football branch on the agility performance. Materials and Methods:The track calculations and distance measurements of the perception-based reactive agility test (PBRAT's) were designed. Since a new device was designed and developed, validity and reliability studies were done. 115 validity study, 70 reliability study and 45 volunteers participated in the agility and work of 4V1-6V2 game workouts. Control group (CG), Closed skill agility group (CSAG), 4V1-6V2 small side game group (4V1-6V2 SSGG). In addition to football training for 8 weeks, CG had straight running training with no running conditions based on speed, agility training with definite starting and ending movement to the CSAG and 4V1 and 6V2 small side training to the SSGG. With PBRAT, pre-test-post-test movements, sprints, test totals and decision times of footballers were measured. Bland-Altman is used for validity study of PBRAT, correlation analysis is used for reliability of the study. In the study, Kolmogorov Smirnov statistic was used to investigate whether the performance variables of the athletes exhibited normal distribution characteristics before and after 8 weeks of training. Differences between the values of normal distribution were investigated by Paired t test and the values which were not normal by Wilcoxon test. In the study, one-way ANOVA was investigated for 45 athlete after eight weeks of training (post-test) because the measured values of the total agility and decision times showed normal distribution and Kruskal-Wallis test was used because the post test sprint time was not normal distribution. The least significant difference method (LSD) and Tamhane test were preferred from multiple comparison tests to see the differences of the athletes' measured values according to the groups. Findings: According to the validity study, it was determined that the motion, sprint and total agility times measured at the same time as both devices were highly compatible. In the reliability study, a strong correlation was found between 1st-2nd week, 2nd-3rd week and 3rd-4th weeks of movement, sprint total agility and decision time values in the positive direction (p:0,000). It was determined that there was no meaningful difference between CG pretest-posttest values in the movement, sprint, total and decision times of the footballers, and there was a meaningful difference between the CSAG and 4V1-6V2 SSGG pre-test and post test values. A larger development was seen in the 4V1-6V2 SSGG when compared with the time of decision for the CSAG and the 4V1-6V2 SSGG. Results: It has been determined that the PBRAT is valid and reliable and can be used for future measurement purposes. Similar developments in the 4V1-6V2 SSGG with the CSAG in this study showed that 4V1-6V2 SSG could be used as an agility training instead of the CSA training. Furthermore, in terms of decision timing, the further development of the 4V1-6V2 SSGG makes the use of 4V1-6V2 SSG even more advantageous as an agility training.
