The evaluation and transcribtion of number 5 th Antalya Court Record (H.1247-1251/M.1832-1835)

Court records are the most important and at the first-hand sources of analysing the history of Ottoman Empire. Records contain important information for researchers about the administrative, social, and cultural structure of the era that these records were written. Records contain abundant materials about the administrative structure, economy, social structure and cultural situation of the place that they belong to. Thanks to this aspect of the records, they are among the most important source texts which enlighten the history of Ottoman. The subject of our thesis is Number 5th Antalya Court Record. The record that we analysed covers the years H. 1247-1251/M. 1832-1835. The thesis consists of four parts after an introduction part which includes broad details about court records. In the first part, the information about Antalya Court Records is given and the features of Number 5th Antalya Court Record are explained. The second part is about the administrative division and organisation of Teke District according to Number 5th Court Record. In the third part, there is an evaluation about the socio-economic condition of Antalya according to Number 5th Court Record. In the fourth part, there are the index and transcription of Number 5th Antalya Court Record. This thesis tries to reveal the administrative, judicial, military and socio-economic conditions of Antalya in the light of the Number 5th Antalya Court Record written between the years H. 1247-1251/M. 1832-1835. The era that we analysed partly contains Mahmut II's era during which big changes happened in the history of Ottoman. In the documents that were the subject of our thesis, it is revealed that the changes in administrative, judicial, military, economic, and social areas reflected on Antalya.
