Transcription and evaluation of Kütahya Şer'iyye Register book No. 5

Kütahya was the center of the Anatolian Governorship for a long time. In this thesis, the Kütahya Şer'iyye Register No. 5 dated to the years 1785-1788 was examined. Şer'iyye registers contain court decisions made by the kadı. In the book that we examined, there are documents such as edict, berat and commanded from the center as well as records such as huccet, i'lam and estate. These records, which have survived from the Ottoman period to the present, provide a lot of information about the social, political and economic structure of the society. In addition, thanks to the documents sent from the center, we can understand the content of the central-provincial relations. XVIII. At the end of the century, the Ottoman Empire was at war with Russia. Documents from the center shed light on the reflections of this war in the countryside. The rivalry between the pashas manifested itself as a mutual exchange in Kütahya. In addition, the authority vacuum has increased banditry activities. Based on this information, in our study, the sanjak administration of Kütahya in the specified years, the relations of the city with the center, the social and economic structure of the population living in the sanjak were discussed.
