There are many important values that people and socities within the values education disciplines. One of the these values are democratic values. Democratic values which is the refer to people's own democratic values and behaviors. It can be also define to as a people's who own a values to democratic societies. Democratic values are so important for socities today's world. Democratic values are teaching to the students who through social studies lessons. When the Social Studies Curriculum is examined, also there are so acqusition about which democratic values for students. For this reason, Social Studies and democratic values are so closely related to each other. The purpose of this study, investigate of the basic democratic values of 6th grade students in terms of various variables. In order to accomplish this aim, surveys carried out different 15 schools 435 students from 6th grade after that interviews were made with 10 students from Seyhan, Yüreğir, Çukurova and Sarıçam district in Adana education and training year 2016-2017. In this study, mixed design research methodology was used to analyze quantitative and qualitative data. In this research used the "Basic Democratic Values Scale" developed by Uygun and Engin (2014), "Socio-Economic Level Scale" developed by Bacanlı (1997), "Personal Information Form" and interview questions were developed by the researcher. Frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean values, independent samples t test an one way anova descriptive statiscal techniques were used in analyzing the quantitative information obtained from the research. In computer programs, quantitative data were analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 data programme. According to quantitative results of survey, students who were got to high scores from basic democratic values scale. Students who got the (X ̅=4,152) total point average from Basic Democratic Values Scale. However, students who were got the highest point self-confidence sub-scale (X ̅=4,180) and the lowest point from fairness sub-scale (X ̅=3,965). There were no differantial effect students got to points and gender variable 4 sub-scale. However, female students got to higher points than male students. Except for collaboration and fairness sub-scale, there were differantial effects according to different variables. According to qualitative results of survey, students who explained that what is democracy and why democratic values important that for societies. At the same time students who answers in the affirmative within the context of collaboration, self-confidence, fairness and respect for diversity.
