Investigation of the relationship between the individual values of mothers of 60-72 month old children and their children's prosocial behaviours

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between the individual values of mothers of 60-72 months old children and their children's prosocial behaviors. In line with this main purpose, whether the individual values of the mothers vary according to their age, education level and working status; It was investigated whether the prosocial behaviors of 60- 72 months old children differ according to their age, gender, the family's income status, number of siblings and birth order. The research was carried out using the relational screening model, one of the quantitative research methods. The study group of the research consists of 300 children aged 60-72 months and their mothers who attend pre-school education in Tuzla and Pendik districts of Istanbul in the 2020-2021 academic year. In the research, "Individual Values Inventory", "Preschool Prosocial Behavior Scale" and "Demographic Information Form" were used as data collection tools. In the analysis of the data, Kruskal-Wallis H test, Mann-Whitney U test and Spearman Correlation were used. According to the research findings, while the individual values of the mothers did not change according to their age and educational status, it was observed that the working situation made a difference in the "discipline and responsibility" sub-dimension of individual values. It was concluded that while the prosocial behavior of 60-72 month-old children differed according to age and gender, it did not differ according to the family's income status, number of siblings and birth order variables. According to another result of the study, it was determined that there was no statistically significant relationship between the individual values of the mothers of 60-72 months old children and their children's prosocial behaviors. At the end of the research, these findings were discussed and suggestions were made. Keywords: Mothers' values, preschool children, prosocial behaviours
