The relationship between social problem solving skills and self-perceptions of 60-72 month old children

This study, it was aimed to determine the relationship between social problem-solving skills and self-perceptions of children aged 60–72 months and to examine these two variables according to some factors. The study group of the research, which was developed in the relational survey model, one of the quantitative research designs, consists of children aged 60–72 months living in Anamur district of Mersin province. The study group of research consists of 100 children aged 60–72 months who were determined by convenient sampling, one of the non-random sampling methods. The data were collected through the Personal Information Form developed by the researcher, the Wally Social Problem Solving Test, the validity and reliability of which were conducted by Yılmaz (2012) for 60–72-month-old children, and the Demoulin Self-Perception Scale for Children, adapted into Turkish by Turaşlı (2006). As a result of the research, it was determined that there was no significant difference in the participants' social problem solving skills according to gender, parental education level and number of siblings. In addition, it was seen that there was no significant difference in self-perception according to gender, mother's education level and number of siblings variables, and there was a significant difference in the self-efficacy sub-dimension of self-perception in the father's education level variable. In addition, a statistically significant and positive relationship was found between the participants' social problem solving skill levels and the self-efficacy sub-dimension of self-perception. However, no statistically significant relationship was found between social problem solving skills and self-esteem sub-dimension of self-perception. It was observed that the participants' social problem-solving skill levels and self-perception total scores, self-esteem and self-efficacy levels were at a medium level.
