Abstract (EN)
Aim: This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of the ways in which individuals over the age of 65 spend their free time on daily living activities and quality of life. Materials and Methods: The study is cross-sectional, descriptive and was conducted with 235 patients followed up in the Geriatrics Polyclinic of Manisa City Hospital between April 2024 and July 2025. The data of the study were collected using the 'Introductory Information Form', 'World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale', 'Lawton & Brody Instrumental Daily Living Activities Scale' and 'Leisure Management Scale' using face-to-face interview technique. The research data were examined using SPSS 25.0 statistical program using number, percentage and t test values. Results: The individuals participating in the study consisted of 123 women (52.3%) and 112 men (47.7%). Looking at the sociodemographic findings, it was noted that the majority were women and that their marital status was married, with educational status defined as literate or primary education. The occupational distribution included workers, civil servants, self-employed individuals, retirees, and housewives, while the number of individuals unable to work is 94.5. It was determined that the majority of participants did not use alcohol or tobacco, lived in families or care homes, had income levels that were less than or equal to expenses, a large number of elderly individuals living in the city, and a high number of individuals who had previously suffered from illnesses. A statistically positive relationship has been found between Lawton's daily living activities, quality of life, and leisure management scale (p>0.01). Conclusion: We have confirmed our hypothesis that the ways in which individuals over 65 evaluate their leisure time have an effect on daily living activities and quality of life. As Lawton's daily living activities and leisure management scale scores increase, quality of life also improves. Key words: Quality of Life. Leisure, Old Age, Activity 2025 , page 64
