Abstract (EN)

Analogies can be utilized for making abstract and not understood concepts concrete and clear. The aim of this study is to determine the usage levels of analogies by teachers for teaching the subjects in the grade science and technology curricula and text book as well as to identify the unique analogies and meanings that are created by participants.In the study, qualitative methods that are scanning and content analysis are used and is conducted on 100 science and technology teacher that work in Bağcılar, İstanbul. 11-item ?Open Ended Teacher Survey Form? that is prepared in line with the opinions from science education experts about the concepts in 7th grade science and technology curricula consists questions appear that are for expressing ideas towards the analogies in the text book, the frequency of sampling usage, and the unique analogies that are created in the class by teachers.According to the results, unique analogies that result in curricula modulation towards concepts in the study of 7th grade science and technology curricula are formed by the sampling. However, unique analogies towards the concepts of electric circuit and the symbols of elements couldn?t be created. Thus, it can be suggested that the ?unique analogies? that formed by the sampling in the scope of this study should not be ignored during the revision of the mentioned curricula.
