Examination of memories that can be used in the 8th grade Revolution History and Kemalism lesson

First-hand sources are important aids in order to increase students' interest in history lessons, enrich teaching, and create the classroom environment in favor of the efficiency of the history lesson. At this point, the use of memoirs, which are one of the first-hand sources, may be a good choice, especially in T.C. Revolution History and Kemalism lessons. In this regard, the aim of the research is to examine literary works in the memoir type that can be used in the 8th grade T.C. Revolution History and Kemalism lessons and to relate these works to the units and achievements in the 8th-grade T.C. Revolution History and Kemalism lessons curriculum. Eleven different types of memoirs, determined in line with expert opinions and studies in the literature, were discussed and these works were associated with the achievements in the 8th grade eleven curriculum. In this research, where qualitative research method was used, the data obtained through document analysis were analyzed with descriptive analysis. When the results of the research are evaluated in general, it can be said that the memoirs examined can be associated with the achievements of the T.C. Revolution History and Kemalism lessons and the passages associated with the examined works can be used in history teaching. This study can guide social studies teachers in terms of choosing appropriate memoirs and associating memoirs with achievements in teaching T.C. Revolution History and Kemalism lessons. In this regard, it may be suggested for future research to associate different memoirs with the achievements of T.C. Revolution History and Kemalism lessons and to offer teachers more alternatives in teaching the course.
